Hello and welcome!
My name is Amanda.
I fell in love with writing when I was incredibly young, and have since been a devourer of books, a lover of stories, and a creator of poetry, short stories, and much more.
I have Type 2 bipolar disorder, and that has been a major influence on both my life and my writing. I use writing as a source of escape from my mind and the crazy mess that goes on inside of my brain.
Self-expression comes out in many forms. The expression of pain comes in many forms.
For artists, their craft varies.
For me as a writer, my pain poured out into the creation of two characters known as Chase and Avery.
Chase especially was a coping mechanism for me. Avery was essentially just me, but over 10 years ago in the depths of my sadness and panic and fear.
Authors create many avenues of expression through the characters they conjure up.
These two have lurked around the depths of my mind since their initial creation. It’s now, 10 years later, that I’m bringing them into my new life and self, more grown-up and much more healthy.
These two serve the purpose of making my growth process a little more concrete. The inspiration I get for Chase is from my big brother, Wyatt, and our experiences and conversations, along with other points of wisdom I have gained will be written into interactions between Chase and Avery. It softens the blow of the real world and the hardness of reality, but it still provides meaningful lessons and coping.
I don’t consider myself a perfect writer. Who is?
This has taken a crazy amount of courage to do, but as my big brother says:
Step out in faith, stay in the fight. ♥
